The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden is located in Arcadia. It is a hidden gem in the bustling city of Los Angeles. This 127-acre botanical garden and historical site is a perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Visitors are provided with a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
The Arboretum has something for everyone, from nature lovers to history buffs. It is home to over 10,000 different types of plants and flowers from around the world, including a rare collection of tropical and subtropical plants, native California plants, and a wide variety of trees. Visitors can explore the garden’s eight unique environments. Those include a bamboo forest, a desert garden, a meadow, a lake, and much more.
The garden also features beautiful water features, including a tranquil stream and a stunning waterfall. In addition to the beautiful flora, visitors can also see a variety of wildlife, such as peacocks, squirrels, and ducks. My two year old daughter was completely taken with the Peacocks and has talked about them ever since our visit.
The Arboretum is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Queen Anne Cottage, which was built in 1885-86. The Queen Anne Cottage Lawn is now a popular location for weddings and events. Visitors can also explore the Santa Anita Depot, which was built in 1890. It is now a museum dedicated to the history of the Southern California railroads. One of the Arboretum’s most popular attractions is the Baldwin Lake, which is home to a variety of fish and ducks.
The Arboretum also hosts several events and programs throughout the year, including concerts, lectures, and workshops. The most popular event is the Moonlight Forest Magical Lantern Art Festival, which takes place every winter and features stunning displays of illuminated lanterns.
They offer many outdoor education programs for children and families. From The Nature Club, to Acorns and Oaks, Peacock Passport and Family Adventure Night Hikes.
