If you’re ever stuck wondering what you can do as a family that everyone will enjoy, let me introduce you to Gilchrist Family Farm: A fun family day out! It’s one of those places that feels easy, fun, and genuinely enjoyable for everyone in the family.
As a photographer, I’m always paying attention to places that naturally create great moments, and this farm is full of them.
Children love animals. Gilchrist Family Farm gives them plenty of animals to get excited about, from meeting friendly farm animals to learning a little about farm life along the way. Watching kids light up when they see animals up close never gets old, and it’s such a nice way for them to experience something a little different from their usual routine. My daughter absolutely loves brushing the goats and petting the bunnies.
One of the reasons I recommend Gilchrist Family Farm is that it’s not a one-and-done kind of place. Depending on the time of year, you might find fruit or veggie picking, pumpkins and fall fun, Springtime baby animals, and special seasonal events. Every visit feels a little bit different, which makes it a great place to come back to again and again.
From a photographer’s point of view—this place is gold. Natural light, open spaces, rustic details, and children having real fun. Whether you’re snapping a few phone photos or bringing a real camera along, it’s an easy place to capture those genuine moments you’ll want to remember later.
What I really love about Gilchrist Farm is how low-pressure it feels. You don’t need a strict plan or timeline. Just wander, explore, and enjoy being together. Then head home and the children fall fast asleep in the car after a day of fun in the fresh air.

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly outing that everyone will enjoy, Gilchrist Family Farm is definitely worth adding to your list.
Each year I hold a specialized animal mini session, we’ve had a unicorn, an alpaca, bunnies and chicks. Join my email list to find out when these release! They’re always so beautiful, special and create amazing, magical memories!
